Another old photo!

I found this photo the other day when a blog reader reminded me of the trip to Sweden. Can anyone name all of the diners?

If my memory serves me right this was the last night at the hotel and they put on a special meal for us, reindeer steaks.

Summer sun!

Well it's two weeks since I left Bentley and I've never been so busy! The first week was fantastic weather wise but I think we have now got into our "normal" summer.
A thankyou to all who turned up at the leaving do last Thursday, it's hard to believe that the three of us had so many years service.
If anyone want to get together for a pub lunch sometime next month then please get in touch and I'll organise it.

Easter 2009

Seems quite a while ago I started this blog but I'm still at Bentley until June 26th. Been to a few leaving dos in the last few weeks and it's not until people leave that you realise how many who started at Rolls-Royce when I did are now going, it really wont be the same place to work!

I've had some photos given to me from one blog reader but I've not had time to scan and publish any yet, maybe after June 26th I'll have lots of time on my hands, but not according to my wife and family, the jobs list is growing!

Keep watching this space and please pass on to anyone you think may have an interest.

I wish all readers a Happy Easter.

Rolls-Royce Field Day

I was driving up Minshull New road the other day and looked to my left at the housing estate, James Atkinson Way and wondered how long it had been built? It was of course built on the site of the old Rolls-Royce Sports ground, memories of times spent there came flooding back to me. Does any reader remember the Children's field days which were held ther many years ago, always on a Saturday in July. As a child I always looked forward to the Field day, being taken by my Mum and Dad (who worked at RR), to ride the attractions and play on the games organised by the comitee from RR. Later I was able to take my children and to my surprise most of the rides and games were the same! I can remember the following: Train ride around the steering circle, Chair o' planes, Magnetic fishing, Flying bubbles, Bowling, Smashing crockery and the races. I'm sure there were more but can't think of any at the moment. There was also the Cage bird show, flower show and other events organised for the day. Every year I took my children you would see the same faces on each of the attractions, always keen to help out.

If anyone reads this and it sparks memories then please let me know, also send me any items and I will publish them for all to read.

New Supersports

Let's hope that the launch of the new Bentley "Supersports" goes down well at the Geneva show tomorrow.

Found this interesting web site the other day so I thought I'd share it to readers.

http://www.bentleyspotting.com/

It's a bit of a slow start for this site from me but very busy at the moment especially at weekends. Thanks for comments from those who have read the blogs and I hope to publish more in the near future, just watch this space!

Old photos

I came across some of my old photos the other day while having a clear out and I thought I'd put this interesting one on the blog. Can any one tell what model this was under the "light" disguise? The picture was taken at the Arctic test centre in Lapland Northern Sweden.

I spent a week in the Arctic testing with this car and above is one of the shots I got of an early morning sunrise. The temperature when this was taken was approx. -35C so I was glad to get inside!

Here we go!

Just an idea I had to keep in touch with colleagues who were employed by Bentley and Rolls-Royce at Crewe. As bad times have hit the Crewe site many people have left through the early release scheme, some before they had actually planned for. I hope this blog site can let people post some stories of the good times that they had at Bentley and enable some to keep in touch. Well let's see how it goes!

If you have any pictures, stories etc you would like put on this site then just email them to me and I'll get them published.
